CoRe Black Finishes P7 In Silverstone Final!

The final round of the Virtual Racing School GT World Championship Series was held at the Silverstone circuit for a three hours race. Pashalis Gergis and Ricardo Castro Ledo, who were the primary line-up for the CoRe Black entry all season long, finished the last race of the season in 7th position. CoRe Silver with driver Janne Kiuru, who was accompanied by Thomas Arends this time by, finished in 20th in their last run.

Qualifying was once again a tough competition but Pashalis was able to set a laptime for a promising 6th position. Janne set a hotlap for P24. Drama in turn one already after the green flag flew – one of Coanda Simsport’s cars was spun before the entry into the right hander. A massive pile up was the result which Janne was able to avoid perfectly. The outcome was a position for Pashalis and several positions for CoRe Silver as well. The race continued and the greek CoRe driver had to defend against PRT’s Blue Audi before the first pitstop was about to be done. With few laps into the race already, Janne was able to advance several position from mistakes in the field but got caught up as well later on. He clipped the gras in turn one and was spun while trying to overtake in the chicanes. That made CoRe Silver lose few spots again.

CoRe Black had to sacrifise P5 after the first pitstop as they came out in P7. The race finally found a sort of balance and both CoRe teams brought the car into the pits for the final stint and gave over their Audi R8’s to Ricardo and Thomas. Ricky continued the race in P7 chasing down PRT in front. Thomas, who was in P18, could keep Esterson from Vendaval behind him for a couple of laps after he was not able to defend the dive. He got two positions back after Dream Factory and Vendaval Simracing crashed in front but CoRe Silver came home in 20th position as they went low on fuel right to the end. Ricardo brought the CoRe Black car to the finish and crossed the line in 7th position.

With this result, the CoRe SimRacing Black entry finishes the season in P5 overall which is a great outcome in this third season of a GT World Championship iRacing Series for the team. CoRe SimRacing Silver ends the season in P37. The team is definitely proud with the outcome of CoRe SimRacing’s Black performance, Pashalis and Ricardo. “Thanks all! I didn’t expect that we would be able to clinch that P5 in the standings as I was really struggling for the little practice time I had but Pash absolutely nailed it today.” – said Ricardo after the race. The 5th position is a great result to consider in this kind of competition this season. The broadcast of the final race can be found here.
