CoRe Black Finishes P5 At Spa!

The sixth round of the Virtual Racing School GT iRacing World Championship Series took place at the famous, favourite and fast Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps holding a six hours race. CoRe SimRacing Black with Ricardo Castro Ledo and Pashalis Gergis behind the wheel were able to secure a great fifth position after a nice chase down from P8 to P5 in the last stint. The CoRe SimRacing Silver entry did not finish.

Maxime, who was starting from the last third of the pack, began the race for the CoRe SimRacing Silver entry with Janne Kiuru in his team. Despite going solid pace and keeping it very clean in the first half of his stint, Maxime sadly lost the control over his Audi R8 GT3 in the Blanchimont corner. His car got loose and the overcorrection sent him straight into to tyre wall. But on the other hand though, Ricardo started the race for the CoRe SimRacing Black entry from 6th position off the grid. Even while fighting it out hard with TTL, Vendaval Racing and ineX Racing throughout this endurance race, Ricardo’s pace seemed to be a promising one – CoRe Black even nearly could reach podium positions for a very short period of time, but because of different pitstops strategies CoRe Black had to stick with their more realistic plans.  Ricardo gave over the CoRe Audi R8 to Pashalis in P8 with the last hour to go. Pashalis immediately tried to catch up to the few cars in front who were on older tyres. First, an unlucky contact with Euphoria Racing’s BMW Z4 GT3 in the busstop chicane made it breathtaking – and secondly a fantastic last lap pass against ineX Racing’s Ferrari 488 GT3 after the backstraight brought the delightful reward of a 5th position.

Judging from the circumstances and the competition, CoRe Black was not completely happy with the outcome : “We were expecting more maybe, I am quite sure my pace was a bit better in practice. Also my qualification hotlap was not optimal as I did a crucial mistake. The rest of the race was more like a recover from the bad first stint and the setup was not optimal either. We are happy with P5 but there was definitely more to grab.” – said Ricardo few hours after the race indecisively. The penultimate round of  Virtual Racing School GT iRacing World Championship Series will take place at Suzuka. The RaceSpotTV broadcast of this six hours endurance race can be found here.
