SCO S1 R4 Review
CoRe secures another double podium!
The fourth round of the Sports Car Open held and organized by the CoRe SimRacing team was taking place at the Circuit Of The Americas circuit for another four hours race. The team with its primary line-ups in GTE and GTC could secure another double podium by finishing 2nd in both classes. Janne and Maik were going in their Ferrari 488 GTE machine while Jere was racing with Santeri in the Mercedes AMG GT3.
Janne was able to take pole position in the GTE class after a very solid lap around the tricky track. Jere in the GTC class could secure a second position at the grid after setting his laptime. The start went off pretty solid in both classes CoRe was participating in. Janne could maintain the lead despite the cars behind him went for a three-wide attack into turn one. Jere immediately went into the draft of Vendaval’s GTC entry. With the speed of both Vendaval’s entries in front, CoRe had to drop the optimistic strategy to win both classes as Kaidesoja, Kekkonen, Lopez and Gelink were pretty strong. Janne had to give up the lead after couple of laps while Jere had to start defending against Triton Racing behind. So with both CoRe entries settled down on P2, Maik took over the Ferrari in GTE while Santeri jumped into the AMG after Jere had to serve a penalty for causing an incident. Four hours later, both CoRe SimRacing entries finished second in their classes.
The team was pretty happy with the outcome. Maik had to admit : “Janne told me that I was on pace with Kaidesoja in my first laps, but on a long term he was insanely fast. Quite happy that I could match Janne’s pace in average laptimes, though.” Santeri and Jere were also pleased with the result of this race. “Good job by everyone, it was a fun race!” – said Santeri after the race. The final race of the Sports Car Open will take place at Interlagos for the last four hours of its very first season. The RaceSpot TV broadcast of this endurance race can be found here.
