CoRe Only With P12 At COTA

– it was definitely not one of CoRe SimRacing’s best weekends in the last NEO Endurance Series race this season. The six hours of the Circuit Of The Americas was on the schedule and the CoRe GTE line-up including the finnish drivers Janne Kiuru und Kimmo Suominen only managed to bring home a moderate 12th position after their Ford GT machine was damaged heavily after a couple of traffic incidents.

Kimmo was able to qualify in 7th for that race. He immediately got one position in the first turn when the race was turned green. There were some starting incidents in the other two classes which made LMP backmarkers pit early – CoRe’s GTE entry tried to maintain the gaps to the leaders Triton and Altus Esports in front, but that early traffic made things difficult. Kimmo could put quite a few good laptimes to the board and kept P6. Nevertheless the race went worse after Kimmo had to avoid a diving LMP car on the inside – he took the shortcut through the grass and hit a bump which damaged the car’s floor. With less topspeed as a result, the CoRe car started to fall back. A lot of optional repair time later, Janne took over for his double stint. Janne was also spun later by an HPD in the race which gave their car even more problems with topspeed. In the end a 12th position in class could be held and was at the same time the maximum outcome in this pretty messy race.

Janne and Kimmo were everything else than satisfied with that result – but it is important to stay positive : “We took good points. All teams gonna have bad races. Lets hope we have some luck next time. It was a good strategy to try to avoid incidents, even if it cost us pace. Without that damage, I’m sure we would’ve been able to close the gap to the front.” – said Janne after the race. The next race will be held at Interlagos for another six hours race.
