iWCGPS 2017 R7 Review
CoRe Finishes P7, P12 and P13!
– The seventh round of the 2017 iRacing World Championship Grand Prix Series took place at the famous Italian Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari race track for a 62 laps race. By reason of a very strong qualification performance from CoRe SimRacing this time, the team’s drivers Isaac Price, Cem Bolukbasi and Pashalis Gergis could perform solid racecraft around the prestigious, tough and tricky Imola circuit.
With Isaac starting from 7th position alongside his team mate Cem in 8th, both had a great opportunity to grab a quick start off the grid. Just a few spots behind, Pashalis started from 14th and immediately could slide through the field to turn one. Nearly hitting Cem though and with Isaac going a bit wide to the grass, cars were spinning off making the CoRe SimRacing guys advance in the field for the very first opening lap. Pashalis immediately started with an outside pass with Cem behind while Isaac could set his pace and keep a solid 7th position. Sadly few moments later Pashalis and Cem were involved in netcode contacts with opponents and lost their spot and had to fight back.
Patience was rewarded after Oomishima and Fluke were spinning at the same time in the first Imola corner. Cem and Pashalis could gain a position each after this situation. After that both CoRe SimRacing drivers were chasing them down until Cem came in for the first pitstop early on. Pashalis followed up few laps later but Isaac kept going for a longer run. He even reached the second position until he steered into the pit entry. Coming out in front of Pietilä again, Cem advanced back to 9th position with Pashalis in a good 12th spot. All CoRe SimRacing drivers maintained their good pace and could advance another position after Team Redline’s driver Graham Carroll was black flagged.
After tough 62 laps in an eventful Imola F1 race, CoRe SimRacing’s iWCGPS line-up finished in promising positions. Isaac brought his car home in 7th, Pashalis in 12th with Cem in 13th after he sadly run out of fuel in the last laps. “After all, it was a good weekend for the team. I put 4kg extra fuel to be safe but looks like it wasn’t enough, had to get lapped to be able to finish the race. Well done to my teammates for the hard work they put in for this race as per usual.” – said Cem after he crossed the line. Isaac was definitely happy with his performance : “We worked really hard for this round and found a bit of pace for this round. I did my best q lap of the season for P7 and managed to convert that to my best result of the season which gives me a lot of motivation for the rest of the year.” Pashalis had to say though : “I needed a good result after a long while, P12 sounds ok but too many mistakes cost me a Top 10 and some mistakes in the end threw me down to P12. Very disappointed with myself this race.” The full broadcast of this race by RaceSpotTV can be found here.
