Bolukbasi finishes in strong P6 with Gergis in P16!

The fourth round of the iRacing World Championship Grand Prix Series was held at Road America for a 47 laps race. Cem Bolukbasi alongside Pashalis Gergis and Isaac Price were the drivers for CoRe SimRacing who are able to represent three entries for the prestigious online F1 series now. Despite a tough DNF from Isaac Price, Cem started a great comeback and put up a great show finishing in 6th position.

Pashalis started from P30, while Isaac Price qualified himself onto P18 alongside Cem who set a laptime for a great 8th position on the grid. The start went into its procedure and Pashalis could advance eight positions in the first laps after a fantastic start into this race. Isaac could also gain two positions after several contacts and punts happend in front. Cem though, who was in middle of the few mayhems, was lucky enough to escape the most of the drama taking a lot of positions out of it. Sadly a couple of laps later, Isaac ran into the rear of Dinkel in the last corner and caused a pile-up involving several cars. Pashalis could not avoid his teammate who was spinning and crashed into him.

Because of the damage, Isaac had to retire. Pashalis somehow could recover from that incident but lost about ten positions in the end. Meanwhile Cem was advancing even more after Törmälä from ineX Racing lost his car and smashed back to the race track. With a fantastic reaction by the turkish CoRe newcomer, Cem maintained the pace and set himself into a promising Top 8 position. With an early pitstop too, Cem could jump few contenders when he came out of pits and immediately had to fight again. Despite an unlucky spin out of turn two into the grass and loosing valueable positions, Cem kept fighting to start his comeback. On the other hand, Pashalis could fight back to 17th position meanwhile. Even few laps until the end, Cem got another position after contenders in front were battling. With an exciting ending phase, he overtook two of the Redline cars and finished in a great 6th position. Pashalis advanced to P16 after another entry got DNF’d.

The turkish CoRe driver was definitely delighted with his result : “Having only 1 lap of Q after getting 1x in first lap in my first attempt, was definitely happy to get P8. Race went well, tyres lasted good enough and after a bad mistake that cost me about 8 seconds, it was time to push and get the maximum of what we could – It all went well, thoroughly happy with the results and P5 overall in the championship! Looking forward to Monza!” Pashalis had to say : “Disappointing race, unacceptable I qualified in P30 and ruined my chances for a good result. First 2 laps were some of the best of my life overtaking 7-8 cars, however I couldn’t avoid Isaac that had already crashed and picked up heavy damage. Managed to climb up back to P16 so finishing a race like this feels good but I also need to improve in Qualifying a lot.” Last but not least Isaac had to comment, too: “Disappointed with my mistake but that’s life in the midpack. We did an amazing job with the setup with limited time and congratulations to Cem for a great debut for the team. The RaceSpot broadcast of this race can be found here.
