Job, Rasmussen & Winkler With Perfect Start!

The first round of the 2017 to 2018 iRacing Road Pro Series, the F1 qualifying series for the upcoming 2018 iRacing World Championship Grand Prix Series, was held at Interlagos for a 71 laps race as the season beginner. CoRe SimRacing drivers Sebastian Job, Frederik Rasmussen and Carl Winkler could set a perfect start to this opener by finishing 1st and 2nd in the topsplit. Carl won the race in Split 2.

The preparation to this series was intense within the CoRe SimRacing booth – even including a private test race a day before gave the drivers the secure feel to show great performance. This was immediately paid off when Frederik took pole position with Sebastian in P2. Carl, who could not make it to the topsplit due his iRating, started his race in Split 2 from a promising second position. The start went off pretty easy for both splits. Frederik had to quickly defend against Apex Racing UK behind same as Carl, who had a good fight against Thompson. A couple of laps later Sebastian took the lead away from Frederik. A breathtaking moment happend as lapped cars came into a pile-up and Sebastian had to make a dangerous avoidance move into the run-off area. That made Frederik came closer again. Carl meanwhile, who was following the leaders in P4 saving tyres and energy, was taking back P1 with great overtakes. The best of those was his outside move against Thompson in turn one, securing the lead with decent pace driving until the finish line. Sebastian won in the topsplit with Frederik in second position. A perfect outcome for CoRe SimRacing reaching the maximum out of the first round in this qualifier series.

Sebastian, who was definitely happy with his victory had to admit : “That’s a nice way to start the season!” On the other hand, Carl got a good boost in motivation after his great race : “I am up to end this season now being in Top 10 in the overall results now!” The next round of the 2017-2018 iRacing Road Pro Series will take place at Montreal next week.
